Vienna Festival Ballet is proud to present their new Spring Ballet for the 2017 Season – the classic tale of Cinderella.

The story of Cinderella is one of the best known fairy tales, and Vienna Festival Ballet’s full length version has all the familiar ingredients. A downtrodden young girl, a glass slipper, two comical ugly step- sisters and a handsome prince combine to make the perfect piece of story-telling. The fairy godmother enables Cinderella to go to the ball, and she falls in love with the Prince.

Cinderella is based on the traditional story, the ballet will surely touch and reach out to everyone's heart, with its combination of pure classical dancing and a touch of pantomime.

A specially commissioned score was created solely for Vienna Festival Ballet by Chris Nicholls, a renowned conductor and musical director for ballet, with music rearranged and rewritten from some of Rossini’s most famous operas, La Cenerentola, the Italian Girl in Algiers, Silken Ladder all adding to the magical fantasy world of the ballet Cinderella. . The music was then recorded especially for the company by the leading orchestra in Kosice, Slovakia, conducted by Nicholls himself.

Choreography is by Sheila Styles, one of the company's most expert and idiosyncratic choreographers, from the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet has created through inspiration from the choice of music, and her talent for choreography and staging, a perfect ballet for VFB.

Peter Mallek, a celebrated Austrian dancer, founded the company after his illustrious career as a dancer of international renown, in 1980. Now in their 36th year of producing quality ballet productions, the company continues to experience remarkable success and perform great classical ballets all over the world.
